A Prayer

O fountain of Light, you are the Light and the origin of Light,
Listen with favour in your mercy to our prayers.
O Light, as we flee from the darkness of our sins,
Rescue us, whose bountiful and holy power first created us,
Whose justice condemned us and whose devotion has redeemed us:
Be in all things merciful, just and almighty.

May the power of faith so arouse us,
That the glory of hope may be kindled for the future:
May love infuse our longing for ages without end.
Be the kindly ruler of our life
That we may have time for work and rest;
And as each succeeds the other may we be refreshed.

Kindle us and make us vessels worthy of spiritual light.

That is a beautiful prayer. It is so good to hear from you again. We were so sad to hear about Grandpa Riley. We have been praying for you all in this time. I haven’t lost any of my grandparents yet. I can only imagine what it is like, especially since I know that you and your grandparents are close. Since my great-grandmother died, we have thought of so many things that we wish we would have asked her. She lived on a farm and worked so hard. My great-grandparents had a dairy, orchard, and chicken houses. They would wake up and milk the cows, deliver the milk to the doors by 5:00 am, and then start all the rest of the farm work! I have always been inspired by Grandmommie and Grandaddy’s diligence. We have a renewed appreciation for what they did as we have tried to start our own little farm “from scratch” trying to re-learn the things that skipped a generation. I am really looking forward to meeting your grandfather in heaven ( I am even more anxious to see him than Annie Moses :)). We read the newspaper articles about him. He sounds like a truly amazing person.

Dear Briana: Thank you so much for your prayers! They really do mean a lot. Yes, I suppose we never do realize how much we take for granted until they're gone. I wish I had asked a lot more questions and spent a lot more time one-on-one, but I am so happy that Grandpa is now with Jesus, though it might seem hard here on earth. Thanks again for your prayers!

Camille, that is a very nice poem. "That we may have
time for work and rest; And as each succeeds the other may we be refreshed. " Rest and refreshing sounds like what I need right now. We've been working long days on a campaign for a Christian conservative that is running for Congress. I am excited when someone that is truly honest, and stands for Godly principles is willing to run. I enjoy supporting people like that, I just wish there were more of them. Praise the Lord our candidate won the primary. Sign waving is exhausting, especially in the Florida heat, but the Lord was merciful to us and sent us cool rainy days. One day when it started to drizzle, a person that was driving by bought us some umbrellas. The Lord knows our needs even before we even ask! It was his way of supporting the candidate. I could write more on this subject of politics, and campaigning; but I will not ramble on. :)
I really like the last line of your prayer "Kindle us and make us vessels worthy of spiritual light."
Thanks for posting! Philippians 1:3-6

Wow Katie! It seems like you do need some rest after all that campaigning. Thanks for working for such a good cause! Many blessings to you!

Thank you Johanna!
