I think it's a perfect mix of philosophical and homey. That was a nice way to express the events of your week. I liked reading the descriptions of your outdoor walks, quaint shop explorations, book finds, bakery delights, historic sights, family devotion time, and your cooking trials (which we all have) : ). Great cooks come from trial and error. Julia Child was one, she didn’t even start cooking until she was in her thirties. I was very happy for your nice long post!Katelyn Mahoneynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337638563251655143.post-73981634747549765552010-10-11T12:25:50.715-05:002010-10-11T12:25:50.715-05:00Captain Starch: Thanks for commenting! Thanks for recommending them.

Natalie: Thank you!

Taylor: I love questions! 'Middlemarch' by George Eliot is very, very good. You should definitely read it. And yes, Russian literature is very dark at times. But there are some books that are great and even uplifting. I would start with 'War and Peace' by Leo Tolstoy. Make sure you get a very smooth translation–– probably one of the newer ones––as a good translation is pivotal to enjoying a Russian novel, in my opinion :) That should give you some reading fodder for a long time, though! What an eventful time you...Beautiful post, Camille! What an eventful time you had. New England in autumn must be so beautiful. The closest thing I would imagine it is like is the mountains at fall time.

George Eliot is a fantastic author. I've only read one of her books, Silas Marner, but I loved it, so sweet and enjoyable. What other books of hers would you suggest?

Was it worth it to you to read Anna Karenina? I've never read any Russian literature, and I'm wondering if I ought to read at least one Russian novel. All I know about Russian literature is that it is generally bleak, intense, depressing, and hopeless. The most intense book I have ever read is probably Les Miserables, and even though it was rather dark and didn't have a Christian world view, it was a great read.

Sorry about all of the questions I'm asking, I would really like to find a good book to read. =)
Thanks for posting!
Blessings,
TaylorTaylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04062808130274448621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337638563251655143.post-63770014541317294472010-10-11T06:47:10.199-05:002010-10-11T06:47:10.199-05:00Hey Camille!
